Women of Emotional Color
Seeing red, white with rage, tickled pink, green with envy. These are examples of color idioms that come up in conversation as a way to describe emotion. Why do we sometimes associate colors with feelings? When did red become associated with romance, rage, and passion? As I painted these Women of Emotional Color, I explored their emotions through the color applied. Like the great Post-Impressionist painters of the 1900s, rather than using color to describe reality, I used this tool to describe emotion and expression.
